Thundering waterfalls, wildlife rich safari destinations, ancient ruins, unique rock formations and spectacular scenery make this tour an unforgettable adventure through Zimbabwe.

Deriving it’s name from the historical stone structures of the Great Zimbabwe ruins, a World Heritage Site, this beautiful area is best known for the powerful spectacle of the Victoria Falls. An unspoilt and exciting safari awaits, showcasing excellent game densities in the wilderness areas of both Hwange and Matobo National Parks. Join us on our 6 day Best of Zimbabwe safari as we leave the rumble and adventure of Victoria Falls behind us as we make the journey south to Zimbabwe’s largest NationalPark, Hwange National Parks. Hwange National Park is home to Africa’s largest herds of elephant and we enjoy a gamedrive through this park in open 4×4 safari type vehicles. Next up, we travel south to Matopos National Park (also commonly referred to as Matobo NationalPark), situated in the southwest Zimbabwe. Famously known for the Matobo Hills, as you enter the park, you are surrounded by big granite outcrops. We will spend time wandering around the park to marvel at the magnificent precariously balanced granite boulders and enjoy a game drive in the afternoon. On we go to visit the iron age ruins of the Royal Palace of Great Zimbabwe with walls 5 meters high and no mortar in sight – Sub-Saharan’s largest and most important stone ruins and a very special archaeological site. Eight soapstone carved birds were found here, depicted on Zimbabwe’s national flag. A guided walking tour of this historic site will give us a better understanding of the years gone by. We take time this to marvel at the intricate stone work and experience the heritage of this monument to early Zimbabwean civilisation. Crossing over the Limpopo River and entering into South Africa, we have time to splash around in the hot springs of Tshipise (meaning something warm) in the natural hot mineral springs before we make the final stretch towards the city of gold, Johannesburg where our Africa safari tour comes to an end.

6-day Journey from Best of Zimbabwe

Day 1 Victoria Falls Hwange National Park

This morning we leave the rumble and adventure of Victoria Falls behind us as we make the journey south to Hwange National Park. Hwange is
the largest of Zimbabwe’s national parks and offers excellent opportunities for viewing the diversity of wildlife that calls the park home.

Home to the big-5, Hwange National Park also offers a wide variety of plains game and birdlife. We will spend the day game driving (in open 4×4
vehicles) through Hwange in search of the animals.

After breakfast we continue south towards Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe. Our afternoon will be spent exploring the Matopos
National Park with a local guide. The park received recognition as a UNESCO natural World Heritage Site in 2003 and includes an intensive
protection zone that is home to both Black and White Rhinoceros. Named after the Ndebele word “Matobo “, whose meaning “bald heads” refers
to the rounded granite hills that surround it. We return to Bulawayo and our overnight stop for the night.

Our journey today takes us to Masvingo and the Great Zimbabwe Ruins. This afternoon we will enjoy a guided walking tour of this historic site.
Dating back to the Late Iron Age, this UNESCO World Heritage Site was once the capital of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe. We take time this afternoon
to marvel at the intricate stone work and experience the heritage of this monument to early Zimbabwean civilisation.

Leaving the sites of Zimbabwe behind we cross the Limpopo River and enter South Africa this afternoon. Our overnight stop allows us an
opportunity to end the day with a swim in the hot springs of Tshipise.

This morning we take the highway south to Johannesburg, we arrive in Johannesburg in the late afternoon were your tour ends upon arrival.
